About the Green Academy: The Green Academy is a highly selective annual program designed for young civil society activists, journalists, academic scholars, artists, and social entrepreneurs who, in alignment with the foundation’s core values, are dedicated to strengthening participatory democracy, promoting human rights for all, advancing gender equality, fostering social justice, and advocating for an environmentally sustainable Nigeria. Through a dynamic blend of formats, including visioning exercises, fireside chats, and advocacy skill sessions, the Green Academy provides participants with invaluable insights on socially relevant topics. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss and refine their vision for Nigeria’s future, explore innovative approaches to achieving their goals, and enrich their knowledge, skills, and professional networks. The Green Academy serves as a powerful vehicle for building a vibrant community of young Nigerians who are deeply committed to the foundation’s agenda and actively working towards a more just and sustainable society. Program Details: • Dates: Mid-October 2025 (specific dates to be confirmed with selected candidates) • Location: Abuja, Nigeria • Duration: Five days Who Should Be Nominated: We are seeking nominations for outstanding individuals who demonstrate determination, passion, innovation, and resilience in their pursuit of societal and political change, particularly in relation to the economic, social, and political development of Nigeria. Candidates should be civil society activists, journalists, academic scholars, artists, or social entrepreneurs between the ages of 20 and 35 years old. The Green Academy is committed to ensuring a balanced mix of participants, representing the diversity of Nigeria in terms of gender, geography, and identity. We strongly encourage the nomination of female candidates. HBS will select a total of 20 participants for the 2025 Green Academy.
