Bakan Gizo Pharmacy and Stores is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to manage the financial records and ensure accurate reporting across all business units—pharmacy, supermarket, bakery, and restaurant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for tracking daily financial transactions, reconciling accounts, supporting audits, and preparing timely financial reports across our 7 branches.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Record, track, and reconcile all income and expenditure from branches and business units
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely vendor payments and customer invoicing
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports (sales reports, branch summaries, expense reports, etc.)
  • Monitor and report branch performance, highlighting discrepancies and advising on financial risks
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and ensure proper documentation of financial transactions
  • Support inventory costing and cross-check stock value reports with store records
  • Collaborate with the audit and inventory team to ensure accuracy in stock and cash reporting
  • Prepare payroll summaries in coordination with HR and ensure statutory deductions (PAYE, pensions, etc.)
  • Assist with budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and expense control measures
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies
  • Support external audits and regulatory submissions when required

Skills Required:

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or Excel-based systems)
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Time management and ability to handle multiple branches
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
  • High integrity and confidentiality
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with retail, inventory, and POS-based environments
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills

Qualifications & Experience:

  • B.Sc. or HND in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • ICAN/ACCA part-qualified or fully qualified (an advantage)
  • Minimum of 4–7 years of accounting experience, preferably in a retail or FMCG company
  • Experience working with multiple business units or branch operations is a strong advantage
  • Must be available to work Monday–Saturday and occasionally visit branches or warehouse as needed

The project’s multi-sectoral approach draws on global nutrition experience to design, implement and evaluate programs that address the root causes of malnutrition. Committed to using a systems approach, the project strives to sustain positive outcomes by building local capacity and strengthening the enabling environment to save lives, improve health and build resilience. The overall purpose of the project in Nigeria is to provide technical support, implement innovative nutrition-specific and sensitive live saving interventions, and generate evidence to enhance nutrition programming toward achieving the overall goal of improving nutrition indices for women of reproductive age, young children and new borns.
