Position Summary
We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Tax Accountant with hands-on experience in corporate and personal tax management. The ideal candidate must have a strong understanding of tax laws, regulatory filings, audits, and financial reporting. This role involves preparing tax returns, managing audits, advisory support, and maintaining compliance with relevant authorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and file tax returns including VAT, WHT, PAYE, CIT, and annual filings with FIRS and State IRS
- Compute capital allowances and ensure accurate tax computations
- Liaise with PFAs on pension matters and resolve uncredited RSAs
- Attend to tax audit queries and manage correspondence with tax authorities
- Process Tax Clearance Certificates, ITF, NSITF, and other statutory filings
- Monitor and follow up on WHT credit notes from clients
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and audit support
- Register and update company records with regulatory bodies (FIRS, SIRS, CAC)
- Provide tax advisory services and recommend strategies for tax efficiency
- Support internal reviews to ensure compliance with IFRS and tax policies
Requirements
- HND/OND in Accounting or related field (Bachelor’s Degree is an added advantage)
- Minimum of 8 – 10 years experience in tax accounting and financial reporting
- ACA and ACTI certification is mandatory
- Strong working knowledge of FIRS and state-level tax laws
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and tax computation tools
- Familiarity with financial modelling and IFRS reporting standards is a plus
