Programme Assistant – Democracy and Governance

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Programme Assistant.The successful candidate will support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of programmes under our women focused advocacy component. This role requires strong organizational skills, a passion for gender equity, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities

Programme Support

  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of democracy and governance programs and initiatives.
  • Support the development of programme materials, including reports, presentations, and training manuals.
  • Monitor program activities, track progress, and ensure that project timelines and deliverables are met.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Support the engagement and communication with programme partners, participants, and stakeholders.
  • Assist in building and maintaining relationships with government agencies, non-profits, and community organizations.

Communication & Outreach

  • Assist in the development and dissemination of programme-related communications, including newsletters, social media posts, and website content.
  • Contribute to the creation of promotional materials and outreach strategies to raise awareness of ElectHER’s democracy and governance programmes.
  • Support the communications team with programme communications and documentation.

Event Coordination

  • Organizing and coordinating events, workshops, and training sessions related to democracy and governance.
  • Handle logistical arrangements, including venue booking, participant registration, and coordination with speakers and facilitators.
  • Support the development of event materials and ensure effective communication with participants.

Research and Analysis

  • Conduct research on best practices, policy developments, and trends related to women’s political participation and governance.
  • Compile and analyze data to support program planning and evaluation.
  • Prepare research briefs, summaries, and reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Administrative Support

  • Provide administrative support to the programme team, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and taking minutes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of programme activities, correspondence, and documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of grant proposals and funding reports.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in political science, Public Administration, Gender Studies, or arelated field.
  • 4 years eperience in program support and administration, or a related role, preferably within the non-profit, or development consulting space.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software.
  • Demonstrated passion for gender equality and women’s empowerment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and report writing skills. .
  • Experience supporting program coordination, stakeholder engagement, and advocacy efforts in the governance space.
  • Strong understanding of Nigeria’s governance landscape, civic actors, political systems, and regional dynamics.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and time management skills.

Salary: NGN 300,000 – 350,000
