University of Maryland Masters Scholarship Details:
One graduate teaching assistantship at the MSc level is available in the Che Lab, Department of Animal and Avian Sciences, University of Maryland, beginning in Spring 2026.
The selected student will be advised by Dr. Sunch Che, Assistant Professor of Poultry Graduate Management.
Research topics include improving hackyard and small-flock poultry health and biosecurity. The selected graduate student will lead all aspects of their research projects), including:
- Developing survey questions using Qualtrics
- Analyzing data from the survey
- Developing fact sheets and infographics
- Preparing manuscripts for publication
Eligibility Requirements for University of Maryland Masters Scholarship
To be considered for the University of Maryland Masters Scholarship, you must:
- Undergraduate GPA: 3.0 or higher on a 40 scale.
- English Proficiency (for caching assistant roles) for international applicants;
- IELTS: Overall score of 7 (Listening 7, Reading 7, Writing 7, Speaking 7.5)
- TOEFL Total score of 95 (Listening 24, Reading 26, Writing 24, Speaking 24)
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in animal science, veterinary medicine, or a related field
- Strong academic performance in an undergraduate program
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Data organization and project management skills.
- Ability to synthesize and critique scientific literature.
- Experience handling livestock, including broiler chickens
- Proficiency in IT or Python programming languages (preferred)
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals and/or abstracts submitted to and presented at conferences (preferred).
