Our client is a prominent Pan-African conglomerate with over 60 years of multi-sector expertise in more than 20 African countries.

We are on the lookout for an accomplished Strategic Business Ventures Manager to spearhead a high-impact and growth-driven business unit within a well-respected Pan-African conglomerate. This senior management position holds significant importance as it focuses on expanding the organization’s reach by identifying, assessing, and executing new business ventures throughout Sub-Saharan Africa.

Identify and Evaluate New Business Ventures

  • Spearhead the discovery and assessment of new business opportunities across multiple industries and markets in Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Lead in-depth analysis of market potential, operational requirements, and regulatory considerations to assess the overall feasibility of new ventures.
  • Deliver detailed investment recommendations that include profitability forecasts, cost projections, and return-on-investment analysis.
  • Present findings and strategic insights to executive stakeholders and investment decision-makers.

Shape Regional and Growth Strategy:

  • Develop and implement multi-market growth strategies, tailored market-entry strategies that support long-term growth across emerging and mature markets within the region.
  • Analyze shifts in consumer behavior, industry trends, and competitor movements to identify areas of strategic advantage.
  • Propose actionable strategies that position the business competitively, including diversification into high-potential sectors.

Direct Financial Planning and Investment Justification

  • Collaborate with finance teams to construct detailed financial models and assess economic viability of proposed projects.
  • Lead the evaluation of cost structures, risk factors, and expected financial returns to inform decision-making.
  • Ensure all new ventures align with the Group’s capital allocation framework and deliver sustainable financial outcomes

Build and Maintain Strategic Relationship

  • Act as a senior representative in high-level discussions with regulatory authorities, government entities, investors, and commercial partners.
  • Drive relationship development with potential collaborators, co-investors, and funding institutions to support project execution.
  • Manage the negotiation and structuring of partnerships, acquisitions, or alliances, ensuring strategic fit and value creation.

Develop a High Quality deal Pipeline

  • Design and implement proactive strategies to source and qualify potential investment and partnership leads.
  • Leverage industry networks, professional events, and internal referrals to identify prospects and initiate early-stage discussions.
  • Oversee the qualification process and lead prioritization based on strategic relevance, scalability, and expected impact.

Track Performance and Optimize Outcomes

  • Establish performance tracking mechanisms for newly launched businesses and strategic projects.
  • Review and interpret financial and operational data to evaluate ongoing success and flag areas for improvement.
  • Provide senior leadership with clear, data-informed recommendations to refine business models and enhance outcomes.

Qualification/ Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field; MBA or relevant Master’s degree is highly desirable.
  • 6–10 years of relevant experience in strategy, investments, management consulting, or business development, preferably with a regional or pan-African scope.
  • Proven track record of developing and evaluating investment opportunities across diverse industries.
  • Strong financial modeling, analytical, and commercial due diligence skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Deep understanding of the Sub-Saharan African economic landscape and regulatory environment.
