Relationship Officers (Ikeja)

Job Purpose:

To drive the growth of the SME loan portfolio by acquiring, evaluating, and managing relationships with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The officer will be responsible for selling and managing SME loansAsset Financing, and LPO (Local Purchase Order) Financing, while ensuring compliance with credit policies and maintaining portfolio quality.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development & Client Acquisition

  • Identify and target SME clients with financing needs for working capital, assets, or LPO fulfillment.
  • Conduct field visits to understand client operations and financing requirements.
  • Promote tailored lending solutions including term loans, asset finance, invoice discounting, and LPO financing.

Credit Appraisal & Loan Processing

  • Collect and analyze financial statements, business plans, and supporting documents.
  • Prepare loan proposals and credit memos for internal review and approval.
  • Ensure proper documentation, due diligence, and KYC compliance.

Portfolio & Relationship Management

  • Manage and grow assigned client portfolios.
  • Monitor loan performance and ensure timely repayments.
  • Provide after-sales support, client education, and follow-up on facility renewals.
  • Conduct regular client reviews and site visits.

Risk Management

  • Identify early warning signs of financial distress.
  • Support remedial actions and collaborate with collections/recovery teams as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to internal credit policies and regulatory guidelines.

Reporting & Market Feedback

  • Provide regular portfolio reports and pipeline updates.
  • Share insights on market trends, competitor products, and customer feedback with product teams.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of SME financing, asset-based lending, and LPO structures
  • Financial analysis and credit appraisal skills
  • Excellent relationship-building and customer service abilities
  • Results-oriented with strong negotiation and sales skills
  • Good understanding of local markets, sectors, and business dynamics
  • Proficiency in MS Office and loan processing systems

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • 2–4 years experience in SME banking
  • Familiarity with asset financing, invoice discounting, and trade finance
