Job Title: Junior Financial Control Officer

Location: Lagos Island, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The Junior Financial Control Officer supports the Financial Control unit in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, monitoring financial operations, and supporting internal financial reporting.
  • The role ensures effective financial stewardship and contributes to the financial health and operational integrity of FINEX Microfinance Bank.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Record Management:

  • Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date general ledger entries.
  • Support daily posting of financial transactions in line with the bank’s accounting standards.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, loan accounts, customer accounts, and suspense accounts as assigned.

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare draft daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports for review by the Financial Controller.
  • Assist in generating regulatory reports (CBN, NDIC, FCCPC, etc.) under supervision.
  • Provide data for management reporting, variance analysis, and trend monitoring.

Budgeting & Expense Monitoring:

  • Track departmental and branch expenses against approved budgets.
  • Assist in preparing budget forecasts and monitoring cash flow movements.
  • Highlight discrepancies or unusual expense patterns for review.

Compliance & Internal Controls:

  • Adhere strictly to internal control policies, financial procedures, and audit recommendations.
  • Support internal and external audit exercises by preparing requested documentation.
  • Assist in monitoring compliance with Microfinance regulatory financial standards.

Reconciliation & Validation:
Carry out daily reconciliation of:

  • Deposit accounts
  • Loan disbursements and repayments
  • Inter-branch accounts
  • Treasury operations
  • Assist in resolving reconciliation discrepancies promptly.

Treasury & Cash Management Support:

  • Support monitoring of liquidity positions and treasury movements.
  • Assist with cash flow projections and reporting.

Documentation & Filing:

  • Maintain organized and secure financial documentation (manual & electronic).
  • Track financial records for retrieval during audit and regulatory inspections.

Other Support Duties:

  • Assist the financial control team in special projects and system improvements.
  • Participate in periodic reviews of accounting processes to improve efficiency.
  • Perform any other finance-related tasks assigned by the Financial Controller.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • 0–2 years experience in accounting or finance (preferably in banking or microfinance).
  • ICAN/ACCA in view is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of microfinance operations is a plus.

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software (e.g., Flexcube, BankOne, T24, Xero).
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry.
  • Strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
  • Good organizational and documentation abilities.
  • Integrity, confidentiality, and strong ethics.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under supervision and meet deadlines.

Salary
N200,000 – N250,000 Monthly.
