Job Description

  • To drive revenue growth and ensure 100% collection efficiency within the Undertaking by coordinating all commercial activities including billing, collections, new customer acquisition, and customer retention.
  • The role ensures qualitative billing accuracy, resolves billing-related complaints, maintains customer data integrity, and monitors key commercial performance indicators.
  • It also supports the implementation of marketing strategies, enforces accountability across the sales team, and aligns commercial operations with the company’s strategic objectives and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities
Revenue Generation and Cash Collection:

  • Drive total revenue generation and ensure 100% cash collection of all billed energy within the Undertaking.
  • Coordinate and supervise all cash collection activities, including follow-up on payments by Maximum Demand (MD) and Prime customers.
  • Monitor collection performance of Energy Sales Supervisors (ESS) and Energy Sales Representatives (ESR) to ensure alignment with set targets.

Customer Acquisition and Retention:

  • Drive and monitor new customer acquisition strategies to expand the customer base within the Undertaking.
  • Validate acquisition data submitted by ESRs and identify opportunities in emerging markets for customer growth.
  • Implement and track customer retention initiatives to reduce churn and ensure continuity of service.

Billing and Account Management:

  • Ensure accurate, qualitative billing that reflects actual energy consumption per transformer or feeder.
  • Oversee the maintenance of customer accounts to reflect up-to-date billing, payments, and adjustments.
  • Resolve billing and revenue-related complaints promptly and effectively.

Customer Database and Metering Coordination:

  • Manage and maintain a reliable customer database by aligning meter books to specific overhead lines and distribution transformers.
  • Coordinate Prepaid Meter Monitoring (PPM) activities to ensure accurate vending and usage tracking.

Reporting and Performance Tracking:

  • Render weekly commercial activity reports for the Undertaking, including key performance metrics on billing, collections, and customer growth.
  • Track, analyze, and report performance of ESS and ESRs to support commercial strategy implementation.

Commercial Strategy Implementation:

  • Support the execution of marketing strategies to meet and exceed Undertaking revenue and customer targets.
  • Identify and evaluate commercial opportunities within the network to drive sustainable business growth.

Compliance and Other Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) and Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Business Manager, Commercial Manager, or Undertaking Manager in support of departmental objectives.

Requirements

  • First Degree (B.SC or H.N.D) in Marketing, Social Sciences or any relevant field.
  • Minimum 7 years field experience in sales and marketing
  • Understanding of the peculiar revenue collection challenges of the energy industry.
  • Basic computer proficiency (MS Excel, Word, Outlook)
