The Applications are now open for the RIKEN CBS Summer Program 2026 in Japan. It is a fully funded 2-month internship at the RIKEN Center for Brain Science (RIKEN CBS). All selected interns will travel to Tokyo, Japan. There is no application fee, and candidates from around the world are eligible to apply for the RIKEN CBS Summer Internship. The program aims to train students interested in brain function, deepening their insight and enhancing their expertise in neuroscience. Candidates can choose either a 2-month internship in a laboratory or an intensive 5-day lecture course. Internship Dates

  • 2 Months: June 9–August 7, 2026
  • Task: Summer interns will conduct research within a CBS Lab for two months. They will actively participate in the host laboratory’s research activities and conclude their term by presenting their findings.

Lecture Dates

  • 5 Days: July 22-28, 2026
  • Task: This lecture course is designed to provide a complete understanding of the chosen theme, covering essential basic concepts alongside the latest, cutting-edge research. This intensive platform will reveal a wide variety of important new research and techniques.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates from all countries are eligible.
  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in an academic institute or employed by a company at the time of application and throughout the program period.
  • You must submit a certificate of enrollment or equivalent proof of affiliation for the duration of the program.
  • High school students are not eligible to participate.
  • Foreign participants must possess a valid passport.
