The UN Young Professionals Program (YPP) 2025 is currently open for applications. The United Nations Young Professional Program is a recruitment program designed to attract talented, fresh young professionals from various countries to begin a career with the UN Secretariat. Since the YPP is intended for beginners, previous work experience is not required for eligibility. Successful applicants are offered a two-year fixed-term contract at either the P-1 or P-2 level. All successful candidates must be willing to accept a placement in any position at a UN duty station. More details are below.
An entrance exam is offered annually. Eligible applicants must pass the exam to be considered for the YPP.
YPPs will be offered a 2-year Fixed contract at the P-1 and P-2 levels. After two years, and subject to satisfactory performance, you may be granted a continuing contract.
P1 and P2 are entry-level professional positions at the United Nations and do not normally require any extensive work experience.
The P-1 level is designated for individuals with a Bachelor’s degree and no work experience, while the P-2 level is for those holding a Bachelor’s degree with two years of relevant work experience or a Master’s degree with no work experience.
Successful candidates must be willing to be placed in a position at any UN duty station or field operation for at least 2 years.
