One of our flagship projects, Opportunity Gist, curates and shares life-changing opportunities — scholarships, fellowships, grants, internships, and jobs — to help young people and professionals access global pathways for growth.
We are seeking a creative and motivated Social Media & Content Distribution Intern to support our digital presence across Instagram, Twitter (X), Facebook, LinkedIn, and to help distribute Opportunity Gist blog content strategically. This internship role is key to amplifying our impact and ensuring that our work reaches the communities that need it most.
Internship Overview
The Social Media & Content Distribution Intern will:
- Manage iAid Africa and Opportunity Gist’s social media accounts (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn).
- Curate, schedule, and distribute opportunity-related content across digital platforms.
- Break down Opportunity Gist blog posts into engaging, platform-optimized formats (posts, reels, carousels, infographics, stories, etc.).
- Drive engagement, follower growth, and meaningful interactions with our online community.
- Collaborate with the communications team to ensure branding and messaging consistency.
- Learn and apply digital strategies in social media marketing, content distribution, and online community building.
- Monitor social media trends, hashtags, and analytics to improve reach and performance.
- Support newsletters, email campaigns, and cross-platform promotions to extend impact.
This is a 4-month internship with the possibility of promotion into a Junior Social Media & Content Distribution Associate role based on performance.
Key Responsibilities (as an intern & future officer)
1. Social Media Management
- Create and manage monthly content calendars.
- Schedule and publish posts on Instagram, Twitter (X), Facebook, and LinkedIn.
- Monitor engagement, respond to comments/messages, and foster community growth.
- Run periodic social media campaigns to boost visibility and reach.
2. Content Creation & Distribution
- Repurpose Opportunity Gist blog posts into engaging formats (visuals, carousels, videos, short-form posts).
- Tailor content to platform best practices (e.g., reels for Instagram, threads for Twitter, thought leadership posts for LinkedIn).
- Use analytics to identify top-performing content and replicate success.
3. Brand Growth & Impact
- Develop strategies to increase audience engagement and follower growth.
- Showcase the impact of iAid Africa and Opportunity Gist through storytelling and campaigns.
- Track metrics (reach, impressions, click-throughs, engagement rates) and prepare monthly reports.
Qualifications & Skills
- Passion for social impact, opportunities, and youth empowerment.
- Proven experience managing social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn) for organizations or personal brands is an added advantage.
- Strong content writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Ability to repurpose long-form content (blogs) into engaging micro-content.
- Basic graphic design skills (Canva or similar tools).
- Familiarity with social media analytics and reporting tools.
- Proactive, creative, and results-driven mindset.
Compensation & Benefits
- Monthly Stipend: ₦80,000
