Vacancy: Optometrist at St Luke’s Hospital Asaba

St. Luke’s Hospital is an ultra-modern, privately owned hospital built with a vision to render quality healthcare service comparable to the world’s best. The hospital was established in 2011 in the quiet and serene environment of the Government Reserved Area in Asaba by the late Chief Uche Okpuno, the Chairman of ULO Consultant Limited. 

Optometrist

The Role

Reporting to the Chief Medical Director, the Optometrist supports the daily care and management of patients in collaboration with the Consultant Ophthalmologist. The role involves actively contributing to the delivery of eye care services, including vision assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and treatment planning. The Optometrist will also play a supportive role in supervising clinical activities and guiding medical staff to ensure high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities 

  • Conduct full eye health and vision examinations using advanced diagnostic tools
  • Experience in prescribing and fitting corrective lenses
  • Educate patients on proper eye care and visual hygiene
  • Knowledge of vision therapy techniques 
  • Maintain accurate patient records in line with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications & Requirements 

  • Doctor of Optometry degree (O.D) from a recognized institution
  • Certification – Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Registration Board of Nigeria; Certificate of Practicing License. 
  • Proficiency with the use of the computer. 
  • Candidates must possess NYSC discharge Certificate or Exemption letter. 
  • Excellent problem-solving and clinical decision-making skills 
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Attention to detail and a patient-centered approach to care
  • Candidate must reside in Asaba or willing to relocate
  • Highly motivated team player willing to go the extra mile
  • Minimum of 2 years’ post-NYSC clinical experience.
  • Primaries in Family Medicine will be an added advantage.
